Given the success of the H&K VP9 series of handguns, it was only a matter of time before H&K bowed to public pressure and introduced a compact version of the VP9. In January of 2017, H&K introduced the SFP9-SK version in Europe, with the SFP9 being the European designation for that is called the VP9 in the US. The “SK” designation for the SFP9-SK model stands for “Sub Kompact” in German, and this model was a long awaited compact version of the SFP9 (known as the VP9 in the US). As the SFP9-SK version was first introduced in Europe and not available in the US, it prompted a flurry of interest and anticipation in the US market.

H&K formally announced the H&K VP9SK for the US market at the 2017 NRA show in May of 2017, with tentative plans to begin shipping at the end of June. The first run of VP9SK (basic version) models hit the market in late May. Currently the SK model is being offered in 2 configurations:
#1 – Basic VP9SK: This is the current entry level model offered with high visibility 3 dot sights and 2 magazines, including a flush fitting 10 round model and an extended 10 round magazine floorplate model.
#2 – Law Enforcement Version: This model comes with factory night sights, and two 10 round magazines (1 flush fitting and 1 with an extended floorplate).
H&K has indicated that they plan to have 13 round and 15 round magazines available by late 2017. According to H&K, the SK can accept the larger 15 round magazines from the VP9 and the P30.
The VP9-SK model comes with all the features and operational controls found on the larger VP9, including the interchangeable grip and grip panels to fit most every grip size. Like the VP9, the SK model also features a Mil-spec 1913 picatinny rail for light or light accessories.
Here are some commonly asked questions that we see regarding holsters for the H&K VP9SK:
#1 – Since the VP9 is basically a more affordable version of the P30, will the VP9SK fit in a holster made for the P30SK?
While the P30 and the VP9 are certainly similar and share a number of features and operational functionality, they are actually different models and require different holsters. As the slide on the VP9SK series is actually longer than the P30SK model, the VP9SK won’t properly fit in a holster made for a P30SK.
#2 – Do you carry any holsters that are made specifically for the VP9-SK model?
Yes, any of the holsters listed below are made in a version to fit the VP9SK.
#3 – Will the VP9SK fit in a holster made for the standard VP9?
Yes, it will, but since the VP9 holster is longer than the pistol, you’ll end up with about an inch to an inch and a half of surplus holster.
#4 – Do you carry any magazine carriers that will work with the VP9SK?
Yes, technically, any magazine carrier made for the VP9 or P30 will fit the VP9-SK. Any of the MTR magazines on this page will fit the VP9SK: https://www.gunnersalley.com/magazine-carriers/.
Any holsters listed on this page are available in a version to fit the H&K VP9-SK.
