Product Description
MTR Custom Adversary Clip-On IWB Holster With a Bodyshield
The MTR Custom Adversary is a clip-on inside the waistband (IWB) holster with a reinforced body shield. The idea for the Adversary surfaced when MTR decided to produce a clip-on IWB with all the customer requested features that MTR liked but minus the things they didn’t. The result is the Adversary holster and it's one of our top sellers.
Produced from Grade-A 6 to 7 ounce premium bull hide in the USA, the Adversary is designed to worn on the strongside in the 3 O’clock position, just behind the hip, or with appendix carry. The holster attaches to the belt using a black powder coated metal clip that will fit any belt up to 1 ¾” wide.
Made with a 0 cant (riding straight up and down), the Adversary also features a reinforced body shield. Many competitors use an un-reinforced body shield, but Matt from MTR prefers the reinforced model as it won’t collapse over time. The body shield is a favorite for many who carry a handgun under a base layer or up against bare skin.
The Adversary rides deep in the waistband for excellent concealment, while still allowing for a full firing grip during the draw. While the Adversary doesn't come specifically with a reinforced holster mouth, the rigidity of the the bullhide does a good job of keeping the holster mouth open, allowing for easier reholstering.
The Adversary is a great choice if you’re looking for a comfortable IWB that can be worn all day.
Common FAQS
Here are some commonly asked questions that we see regarding the Adversary holster:
I see this holster is advertised as having a bodyshield, but I'm not quite sure that that means?
The bodyshield is basically a piece of leather that is built into the holster that rides up between the edge of the holster and the wearer. It's really designed to protect the wearer from the sharp edges of the handgun or revolver.
I also that this holster has an optional thumb break, but I'm confused as to what a "thumb break" is? Can you please explain? Also, do I need one of these "thumb breaks" to keep the weapon in the holster?
A thumb break (also commonly called a retention strap, safety strap, or thumb strap) is a strip of leather that is built into the holster, and designed to help retain the handgun or revolver in the holster. The thumb break fits over the pistol/revolver and is engaged or disengaged using a one directional safety snap. A picture would help so here's one showing the Adversary with a thumb break:

Is this holster made for a handgun with a light mounted on it?
MTR Custom offers this holster in configurations to fit many handguns with most mainstream weapon lights attached. By mainstream, we mean mainstream or popular brands of pistol lights such as Surefire, Olight, Streamlight, etc. MTR can fit most all the light models offered by these three brands, along with a few other less known brands.
Is this holster made for a pistol with a laser attached?
MTR offers this holster in versions to fit most all the mainstream laser brands like Armalaser, Crimson Trace, Laserlyte, LaserMax, and Viridian. To add a laser to your holster, during the ordering process you'll need to choose the specific laser model from the "Lights & Lasers" dropdown menu. Your holster will then be manufactured to fit the handgun and laser selected on the order.
I have a red dot sight on my pistol, can this holster accept a red dot?
As this holster model is semi-customizable, you can order it in a configuration to fit a red dot or RMR. To do that, you will need to choose the "ADD RMR/Red Dot Cutaway" option during the ordering process. MTR Custom will then craft a slot into the holster to accommodate the red dot or RMR when the pistol is holstered.

The best to be found for a SW Model 66 snubbie revolver!!!!
A very substantial IWB concealed carry holster that fits like a glove! A SW Model 66 is a heavy, solid base of firepower. The MTR is up to the challenge and gives all the support needed. The holster is extremely well-made and will last the lifetime of the firearm.

Best M&P Shiled Holster money can buy!!
Seriously. First of all, most holster manufacturers are not even making Shield holsters yet. This is not only the most available IWB holster out there, but fits the firearm absolutely perfectly, and is totally comfortable, while maintaining its form for re-holstering. Strongly recommended for anyone who wants to conceal a Shield comfortably and effectively. NRA instructor and Class III dealer.

Excellent for Walther PPQ
Anyone who has a PPQ knows of the limited amount of holsters for this pistol. This holster fits like a glove, with excellent retention. At first it may seem that the pistol is too tight in the holster but the best way to break this type of holster in, is to have the pistol in the holster overnight. Then push the unloaded pistol in/out 1-200x and you will be good to go. I would advise wearing a quality gun belt for the single metal clip for stability. I have purchased many Don Hume holsters through Gunners Alley over the years and their service, quality, and price is second to none.

A GREAT fit for my Smith & Wesson M&P Shield
I purchased a new Smith & Wesson M&P Shield and was in the market for a new holster to carry it concealed. I called Gunners Alley looking for a Don Hume. The person I spoke with stated that Hume did not make a holster to exactly fit the M&P Shield but mentioned that they also carry holsters by MTR Leathers. I had never heard of them but, at the suggestion of Gunners Alley, I took a chance and ordered their Nemesis IWB with bodyshield. I was told that the lead time was about three to four weeks. Well, it took just about six weeks for the holster to arrive at my doorstep. I ordered mine in the “mahogany” color and was very pleasantly surprised. The color is gorgeous and the bull hide makes a nice holster. Stiff, but not too stiff and the retention is fantastic. The fit is spot on and the holster if VERY comfortable to wear and rides in just about the perfect position (for me anyway). The holster was a bit more money (about $20) than the Don Hume I was looking for but once you have the holster in your hands, you KNOW where the money went. The only downside that I can mention would be the wait time but again, this is to be expected when they are making these holsters to order. Anyway, if you’re in the market for a new holster, give one of the MTRs a try. My guess is that you won’t be sorry.
