Product Description
MTR Custom Adversary Clip-On IWB Holster With a Bodyshield
The MTR Custom Adversary is a clip-on inside the waistband (IWB) holster with a reinforced body shield. The idea for the Adversary surfaced when MTR decided to produce a clip-on IWB with all the customer requested features that MTR liked but minus the things they didn’t. The result is the Adversary holster and it's one of our top sellers.
Produced from Grade-A 6 to 7 ounce premium bull hide in the USA, the Adversary is designed to worn on the strongside in the 3 O’clock position, just behind the hip, or with appendix carry. The holster attaches to the belt using a black powder coated metal clip that will fit any belt up to 1 ¾” wide.
Made with a 0 cant (riding straight up and down), the Adversary also features a reinforced body shield. Many competitors use an un-reinforced body shield, but Matt from MTR prefers the reinforced model as it won’t collapse over time. The body shield is a favorite for many who carry a handgun under a base layer or up against bare skin.
The Adversary rides deep in the waistband for excellent concealment, while still allowing for a full firing grip during the draw. While the Adversary doesn't come specifically with a reinforced holster mouth, the rigidity of the the bullhide does a good job of keeping the holster mouth open, allowing for easier reholstering.
The Adversary is a great choice if you’re looking for a comfortable IWB that can be worn all day.
Common FAQS
Here are some commonly asked questions that we see regarding the Adversary holster:
I see this holster is advertised as having a bodyshield, but I'm not quite sure that that means?
The bodyshield is basically a piece of leather that is built into the holster that rides up between the edge of the holster and the wearer. It's really designed to protect the wearer from the sharp edges of the handgun or revolver.
I also that this holster has an optional thumb break, but I'm confused as to what a "thumb break" is? Can you please explain? Also, do I need one of these "thumb breaks" to keep the weapon in the holster?
A thumb break (also commonly called a retention strap, safety strap, or thumb strap) is a strip of leather that is built into the holster, and designed to help retain the handgun or revolver in the holster. The thumb break fits over the pistol/revolver and is engaged or disengaged using a one directional safety snap. A picture would help so here's one showing the Adversary with a thumb break:

Is this holster made for a handgun with a light mounted on it?
MTR Custom offers this holster in configurations to fit many handguns with most mainstream weapon lights attached. By mainstream, we mean mainstream or popular brands of pistol lights such as Surefire, Olight, Streamlight, etc. MTR can fit most all the light models offered by these three brands, along with a few other less known brands.
Is this holster made for a pistol with a laser attached?
MTR offers this holster in versions to fit most all the mainstream laser brands like Armalaser, Crimson Trace, Laserlyte, LaserMax, and Viridian. To add a laser to your holster, during the ordering process you'll need to choose the specific laser model from the "Lights & Lasers" dropdown menu. Your holster will then be manufactured to fit the handgun and laser selected on the order.
I have a red dot sight on my pistol, can this holster accept a red dot?
As this holster model is semi-customizable, you can order it in a configuration to fit a red dot or RMR. To do that, you will need to choose the "ADD RMR/Red Dot Cutaway" option during the ordering process. MTR Custom will then craft a slot into the holster to accommodate the red dot or RMR when the pistol is holstered.

Glad i did it!
Talked to the gentalman at gunneralley. He suggested it. Glad I did it. Fits great. Don't even know you have a holster on your side. Thanks.

Great Quality - Better Than Expected
I've had my holster for just about a week and half. Since it's custom it took a few weeks to make and it arrived quicker than I expected. It's new and very stiff but breaking in. Qualify of workmanship is excellent and it's very comfortable with mu SIG 2022 in the 1pm position.

Excellent leather molding for my Sig Sauer P224
Very happy with the holster, nice molding to the gun. The leather looks rich and provides an excellent sweat shield.

Great Holster
Holster arrived a bit tight but after a short break-in period the fit is perfect, holding the weapon securely while remaining easy to draw. The quality is apparent the moment you handle this holster. Stitching is neatly done and the body shield protects the weapon. The belt clip holds the holster in place so there's no worry about the holster riding up like I have experienced with lesser quality products. This holster, carrying the Sig Sauer P938, conceals perfectly under a light shirt. Overall this is an excellent holster that should last a lifetime with proper care.

My Second Holster
I had recently purchased the same type of holster for my P229 and was looking for the same type for my P224. I saw where Gunners Alley had the type listed but wasn't sure if they had the type for a DAK model or not. I was not surprised that Brad responded to an email right away answering my question. Soon has he did, I placed my order. Not disappointed. The holster is just what I expected from getting the last one. Great quality at a great price.

Addendum to my previous review
I just noticed that in two of the photos of this holster you can see that the model has the holster canted about 20 degrees! This is how it wears most comfortably for me, but it doesn't tend to stay that way. I really think MTR should rotate the clip to this position, which would make it a SUPER excellent holster.

Awesome holster
Excellent workmanship, excellent fit to the gun. I gave it 5 stars even though I would prefer that the clip had a 20 degree or so cant to it. The clip is parallel to the barrel, so in other words with the clip sitting squarely on your belt, the barrel points straight down. It is more comfortable for me when the grip is rotated about 20 degrees up -- the gun disappears better that way and nestles into the small of my back so that I don't feel it when I sit against a backrest, such as when driving. I like that the holster does not block the path of the laser, so I can momentarily check the operation of the laser without unholstering the gun (such as just before putting it on). In case MTR is reading this, two small preferences: One, I'd like the bodyshield to not extend so far above the gun. Very small quibble. Two, I'd rather lose the doubler stitched to the backside of the bodyshield. I know, the Gunner's Alley guy told me that without this the bodyshield may curl away from the gun, but that is something I'd have to see to believe. Color me very skeptical, I'd rather have a thinner holster with no doubler. But again, this is a fantastic holster despite my minor quibbles. Much of the time I'm not even aware that I have it on. Oh, and it beats the HELL out of the Desantis holster I tried and returned. Its clip was bulky and difficult to slide into place, and didn't leave enough room for a belt and a layer of denim. And the holster's overall width was the same as my holstered revolver -- completely missing the point of the S&W Shield! The MTR is nice and slim, but would be slimmer without the doubler. And the clip is perfect. If they would cant it I would give it 6 stars.
