Besides the weight differences, the Pocketlite model has the exact dimensions as the original Mustang version. The operational controls on the Pocketlite are also identical to those found on all the Colt Mustang models.
While the Pocketlite pistol functions like its most famous cousin, the Colt Government 1911, there are also a few subtle differences. Unlike the thumb safety on a true 1911 handgun, the thumb safety on a Pocketlite (as well as most all the other Colt 380 pistols) does not lock the slide in place. In addition, the Pocketlite does not have a grip safety like most single action 1911 pistols.
The smaller size of the Pocketlite pistol means it performs well for concealed carry and self defense use.
From a gun holster perspective, the most popular holster styles for the Pocketlite handgun are pocket holsters and inside the waistband holsters. That being said, we also sell a surprising number of small OWB holsters for this Colt pistol.
