Trooper

The Colt Trooper was produced from 1953 to 1985 and featured 3 different generations.

1st Generation - The original Colt Trooper series was produced from 1953 to 1969 and chambered in .38 Special. This model was designed to compete with the popular S&W Model 28 Highway Patrolman series.

2nd GenerationThe Trooper MK III series was produced from 1969 to 1982 and was chambered in both a .38 Special version and a more powerful .357 Magnum version.

3rd Generation - The Trooper MK V series was manufactured from 1982 to 1985 and featured upgrades like a better performing trigger action, reduced lock times, and better accuracy.

The Trooper series of revolvers was available in a 4”, 6” or 8” barrel configuration, and was discontinued by Colt at the end of 1985.

The Trooper was intended to be a "budget" model for those who didn't want to spend the money on the more prestigious Colt Python model, and for working law enforcement agencies.

Like most pistol models that have been out of production for some time, finding a holster for the Trooper could pose a challenge. The size of the Trooper makes it best suited to be carried in a belt holster, although there are some IWB holsters still produced for it. All the holsters listed below are made to fit the Colt Trooper in various barrel lengths.
