Walther CCP

Produced to target the CCW market, the Walther CCP (Concealed Carry Pistol) was introduced to the market in 2014. The CCP was Walther’s first pistol to feature a delayed gas blowback system similar to the one used by H&K on the P7 series. The resurrection of this type of gas operated design created a substantial amount of interest in the CCP when it was first introduced.

The 1st generation of the CCP was only available in 9mm and came in 2 models, a blued version (which is actually a black Cerakote finish) and a stainless steel version. Initial reviews were very good, although the trigger seemed to be a point of contention for most.

From a size standpoint, the CCP is slightly larger and heavier than some other single stack compact 9mm CCW guns in the same class, such as the S&W M&P Shield, Ruger LC9S, Sig P938, and Springfield XDS 3.3". Even so, the CCP gets a gold star for ergonomics as most all reviews have praised the design and pointability.

One concern that seems to have surfaced centers on the gas blowback design and its side effects in the H&K P7 series. One known issue with that design involves the build-up of heat as rounds are being fired. Beginning with the P7M8 series, H&K used a heat shield in an attempt to minimize the issue. So far, reviews on the CCP have indicated that the design has no issues with heat build-up, even during heavy use.

In August of 2018, Walther introduced an upgraded version of this pistol called the CCP M2 version. The original CCP model was discontinued at the beginning of 2019.

Here are some commonly asked questions regarding Walther CCP holsters:

The Walther CCP and the Walther PPS look to be similar sized pistols. Will the CCP fit in a holster made for the PPS?

Unfortunately, it won’t as, even though the two gun models look similar, they are different sizes and have different dimensions. They might be able to both fit into a one size fits all type of nylon holster, but they won’t crossfit in a form fitted leather holster.

Can you recommend a good Walther CCP IWB holster?

Certainly. Have a look at the MTR Custom Adversary clip-on IWB or the MTR Custom Slimline Tuckable IWB holster. Both are popular sellers and either would be a good choice for the CCP.

I saw a post in a forum saying that the CCP would fit into a holster made for the Beretta Nano? Is this correct?

Not based on our testing. So far, we haven’t seen any other pistol models offering a holster that would fit for the CCP.

Do you have any holsters for the newer Walther CCP M2 pistol?

Yes and those holsters can be seen here: Walther CCP M2 Holsters

Does Don Hume offer a holster for the Walther CCP?

Currently Don Hume is not offering any holsters to fit that pistol.

All the holster models listed below are made in a version to fit the Walther CCP:
